TANAMAN SAMBUNG NYAWA (Gynura procumbens)SEBAGAI BAHAN TANAMAN PANGAN YANG BERKHASIAT OBAT

Abstract

Sambung nyawa (Gynura procumbens) is a medicinal food plant. The women joiningPemberdayaan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (PKK, the Family Welfare Empowerment)from  RT  41  RW  09  Bumi  Antariksa  Residence,  Klegen  Village,  Kartoharjo  Subdistrict, Madiun  City as  partner  did  not  know  well  about  this  plant.  Therefore,  they  did  not utilize them as edible and medicinal plants; they also had narrow yards and did not know how to cultivate them. This Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM, Community Service   Program)   was   to   introduce   and   to   socialize   Sambung   nyawa   (Gynura procumbens) plant to them. In RT 41 RW 09 Bumi Antariksa Residence,  there were ten members of  PKK chosen as cadre in the implementation of Program Kawasan Rumah Pangan Lestari (KRPL, a programto optimize the utilization of environmental-friendly yards)  whose  theme  is  ”Sambung  Nyawa  (Gynura  procumbens)  asa  medicinal  food plant.”The solution offered by the implementing team (lecturers and students of Biology Study Program) wascomprehensive knowledge and skills about Sambung nyawa plant (Gynura procumbens) consisting of plant biology, its utility as food and medicinal plant, and its processing through training, demonstrations, and consultations. The output of PkM was the partner knew  the Sambung Nyawa plant’s used as food and medicinal plant (especially pudding, ice cream, mixture intofu stir-fry, and its easy cultivation). They  were  interested  in  cultivating  the  plant  as  the  implementation  of  KRPL  concept and  the  use  of  narrow  yard  intensively  to  create  Madiun  City  healthy  people programme.
